Project repository

This repository contains information on selected software projects of mine. Some are modules presented as readme files with links to the git repository, others are smaller and presented as output from Jupyter notebooks.

Isochron fitting

Code for fitting isochrons on uranium-thorium-lead (U-Th-Pb) isotope data. A technical consequence of measuring multiple isotopes of the same element is that the associated errors are highly corellated. The U-Th-Pb isotope systems consists of three coupled decay systems: 238U to 206Pb, 235U to 207Pb and 232Th to 208Pb. Therefore to obtain the highest amount of geochronological information, multiple lead isotopes are measured in parallel.

Kriging and map projection

An example of kriging and map projection in Python 3. Geopandas is used for reading and plotting data from shapefiles; pyproj for projecting data from geographic coortinates to UTM coordinates; the kriging solution from osgeo, gstools is used to fit the data, and generate conditioned fields; shapely is used to generate geometries; scipy.ndimage is used for vector-raster arithmetic; numpy for array manipulations; and matplotlib for ploting maps.

Pysotope

A Python 3 module and command line tool for reducing Double Spike Isotope measurements acquired on the IsoprobeT and Phoenix instruments at the Geology Section at the University of Copenhagen. This piece of software was developed in particular for doing data reduction on chromium isotope measurements. New isotope systems are easily implemented using json configuration files, and new spikes can also be calibrated automatically on the basis of measured spike-standard mixtures.

Source code for this website is available at github.com/tarting/tarting.xyz. The website was is generated using the hugo static website generator, heavily based on the researcher theme. Gallery functionality is provided by nanogallery2 following mertbakirs guide. Nanogallery2 and single image displays on the site depend on lightbox2.
